- Q1-1. What is the purpose of the @a.riken.jp email addresses?
- A. This email address allows you to receive email from RIKEN's Alumni Network, which connects current and past RIKEN personnel. It also allows serves as a forwarding address that you can use for life, even after leaving RIKEN.

- A. These addresses are used as follows:
- @riken.jp: Email address generally used only by current RIKEN personnel for work communication.
- @a.riken.jp: Forwarding address that can continue to be used after leaving RIKEN.

- A. RIKEN will send various announcements, as well as notices and other info related to the Alumni Network.
- Q1-4. Is it OK to list my @a.riken.jp email address on the All RIKEN Telephone Directory?
- A. Generally, your @riken.jp email address should be the one listed on the All RIKEN Telephone Directory, as it is used for business purposes while you are affiliated with RIKEN. However, guests (e.g., Visiting Scientists) will have their @a.riken.jp address listed.

- A. If you do not register or configure settings for mail forwarding, no mail will be forwarded. If you do not want to use an @a.riken.jp email address, you can delete the email address registered to receive forwarded mail from the RIKEN Email Forwarding Service Forwarding Address Change Form.

- A. To stop receiving newsletters, mail magazines, and other such emails from organizations other than RIKEN, please contact the organization sending these emails directly.

- A. There is no time limit for this address, generally speaking. However, every 1-2 years, an email will be sent to determine your intent to continue using the address. Please be sure to reply to this email with your answer. If there is no reply after several rounds of the email being sent, your @a.riken.jp email address will be temporarily deactivated.

- A. If you leave RIKEN without registering an address to receive forwarded mail, your @a.riken.jp address will be temporarily deactivated once your @riken.jp account is deactivated. This is because your @riken.jp account is the default setting for the account to receive forwarded mail.

- A. Yes, it is possible. Please configure your spam filters and other settings to permit emails from the riken.jp domain.

- A. No, it is not possible to set rules for forwarding to different addresses. All emails will be forwarded to all of the forwarding addresses you have registered.

- A. No, we cannot assist you with this matter. This service works by automatically forwarding emails sent to your RIKEN address. It cannot be used as an intermediary to send or forward emails to a third party. We are not able to respond to requests for individual contact information.

- A. Yes, the sender will receive a message notifying them that the email could not be delivered. This message may include the email address you registered to receive forwarded emails. When registering addresses to receive forwarded mail, please be aware that these addresses may be revealed to senders who know your @a.riken.jp address.
