RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP)
Director: Masashi Sugiyama (D.Eng.)
The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) promotes cutting-edge AI research through three core research groups.
- (1)The Mathematical Intelligence Group investigates the mathematical principles of machine learning and works to establish foundations that enhance the reliability, interpretability, and safety of AI.
- (2)The Domain Intelligence Group advances AI technologies integrated with the knowledge structures of specific domains, particularly in scientific and applied research fields.
- (3)The Physical Intelligence Group seeks to realize intelligence that actively interacts with and operates in the real world, working toward the establishment of foundational technologies for embodied intelligence.
The use of AI is rapidly expanding from basic science to industry and social infrastructure. AIP strives to create the foundational technologies that will support the sound and sustainable development of the AI era, and continues to pursue its mission as a research center that leads the international research community.
