General information

There are two types of on-campus housing; Short-term and Long-term.

Short-term

Guest status	Guests hosted by RIKEN laboratories
Unit style	Single-style only
Number of units	35
Location	Campus map E91 (International House H: Sakura House) and E12 (Nishina Lodge)
Length of stay	1 day to 30 day limit
Reservations	From 3 months in advance up to 4 pm on check-in date during business hours
Cancellation policy	Reservations must be cancelled no later than 4 pm on the check-in date during business hours A cancellation fee equivalent to one night stay will be charged daily for no-shows and for not cancelling the reservation in time.
Check in time & Key pick up location	After 3 pm Housing Desk at the West gate guard station (open 24 hours) Note: Bring a copy of your “Reserved” notice email as well as photo identification, e.g. passport or drivers’ license.
Check out time & Key return location	10 am Housing Desk at the West gate guard station or Key drop boxes (mailbox areas)
Payment	Cash only Make payments on the last business day before checking out at the I-House Office short-term Building H, by 4 pm. For stays that include two consecutive months, two payments are due; at the end of the first month, and before checking out.
Internet use	“Internet Use Rules & Security Disclaimer” must be signed at the time of check in.
Other remarks	Do not wear shoes inside rooms. (Exception: Nishina Lodge) No car parking The key will open the door to the building and your room. No smoking inside rooms or any building at RIKEN. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas. No pets (any animals)

Long-term

Resident status	International researchers and students with RIKEN status including families
Unit style	Single and family-style
Number of units	Single-style: 84, Family-style: 56
Location	Building No. C91-94 and E91 (International House)
Term for stay	1 month (30 days) up to 1 year
Reservations	From 6 months up to 2 weeks before check-in date during business hours
Cancellation policy	Reservations must be cancelled no later than 4 pm on the check-in date during business hours A cancellation fee equivalent to one day stay will be charged daily for no-shows and for not cancelling the reservation in time.

Payment	Cash only During stay/ Moving to off-campus housing: Make monthly payments at the I-House Office, Building E, by the 22nd of each month. Vacating due to change of job, etc.: Make payment at the I-House Office, Building E, by 4 pm on the last business day before checking out.
Rules & Agreements	“Housing Agreement” and “Internet Use Rules & Security Disclaimer” must be signed at the time of check in. “I-House (long-term) Rental Property Check” must be signed within three days of moving in. ”RIKEN International House Manual for long-term Residents: Rules and Guidelines”
