Seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (26-508)

Laboratory

Disaster Resilience Science Team,
Domain Intelligence Group
RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project
(Team Director: Naonori Ueda)

Outline of Laboratory

The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) is a leading international hub for state-of-the-art AI research. Centered around three core research groups—the Mathematical Intelligence Group, the Domain Intelligence Group, and the Physical Intelligence Group—AIP is dedicated to establishing the mathematical foundations of trustworthy AI, advancing AI technologies integrated with diverse scientific domains, and developing embodied intelligence for the real world.

Disaster Resilience Science Team at the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) conducts research aimed at predicting natural disasters and mitigating their impacts through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science. The team focuses on earthquakes, tsunamis, heavy rainfall, and other hazardous events by integrating large-scale simulations, observational data analysis, machine learning, and physics-informed AI. Their research seeks to improve the understanding of disaster-generation mechanisms and to advance real-time forecasting technologies. By leveraging supercomputers, satellite observations, and sensor data, the team develops next-generation AI infrastructures for disaster prevention and mitigation. The team also promotes social implementation through collaborations with governmental agencies, universities, and industry partners.
