Group Director Akira Furusaki elected APS Fellow

Akira Furusaki, Group Director of the Quantum Matter Theory Research Group at the RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science (CEMS), has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).

The APS Fellowship is awarded to researchers among its members who have made exceptionally outstanding achievements in the advancement of physics. The Fellowship annually selects no more than 0.5% of the Society's non-student membership.

Citation for the Fellowship

"For fundamental contributions to the theoretical understanding of mesoscopic superconductivity, low-dimensional strongly correlated systems, and the symmetry-based classification of topological insulators and superconductors."
