RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research Laboratory for Brain Organoid

Team Director: Hideyuki Okano (M.D., Ph.D.)

Research Summary

Hideyuki Okano

The Brain Organoid Research Team utilizes iPSC-derived brain organoid, assembloid, and connectoid technologies to establish human disease models that recapitulate the pathophysiology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), neuroimmune disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Using these models as a platform, we aim to elucidate disease mechanisms, advance drug discovery research, and develop novel therapeutic strategies.
