Chief Scientist Laboratories RIKEN-Seiko Collaboration Center
Collaboration Center Director: Rikiya Watanabe (Ph.D.)
Research Summary
The RIKEN–Seiko Collaboration Center aims to establish a next-generation platform for automated biological experimentation by integrating advanced precision control and automation technologies developed in the mechanical engineering industry into life science research. By systematically implementing these technologies, experimental workflows that have traditionally relied on researchers’ experience and manual operations will be transformed into standardized and highly automated processes, enhancing reproducibility and efficiency. Furthermore, the integration of data-driven control systems will enable autonomous optimization of experimental conditions, thereby accelerating life science research and fostering the development of innovative bio-manufacturing technologies.
