RIKEN SPring-8 Center SR Life Science Instrumentation Team
Team Leader: Nobutaka Shimizu (D.Sc.)
Research Summary
Our team manages the operation of four RIKEN structural biology beamlines (BL32XU, BL26B1 & B2, and BL38B1) and is committed to pioneering advanced technologies for structural biology and beamlines at SPring-8 and SACLA. To successfully analyze highly challenging samples, our mission entails developing instrumentation for beamline optics, experimental stations, sample handling, and X-ray detectors, alongside methodologies for measurement and analysis. We also advance methods for damage-free crystallography and X-ray coherent diffraction cryo-imaging, leveraging the ultra-bright and short pulse beams of SACLA for life science research.
