Fundamental Quantum Science Program High-Energy QCD Theory Research Team

Team Director: Sinya Aoki (D.Sc.)

Research Summary

Sinya Aoki

Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) describes the strong interaction binding quarks and gluons, offering fundamental insight into quantum systems ranging from nucleons to dense quark matter in neutron stars. As a mathematically sophisticated branch of quantum field theory, QCD deeply influences neighboring fields such as condensed matter physics and computational science.
Our team leads theoretical research in high-energy QCD, addressing core questions like the origin of nucleon mass and spin. We connect our theoretical framework directly to leading experimental programs, including the LHC and the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
