Team Director Uta Paszkowski Elected Fellow of the Royal Society

Uta Paszkowski, Team Director of the RIKEN-Cambridge Joint Crop Symbiosis Research Team for Crop Symbiosis at the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science (CSRS) has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in recognition of her outstanding research achievements elucidating the signaling mechanisms between cereals and fungi during arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis.

The Royal Society, founded in 1660, is one of the oldest scientific academies in the world. Its membership has included globally renowned scientists such as Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, and Stephen Hawking. Today, it consists of approximately 1,800 Fellows and Foreign Members, including around 85 Nobel laureates. This year, more than 90 researchers from around the world were newly elected.

Dr. Paszkowski says, “I am immensely humbled about having been elected Fellow of the Royal Society and grateful to both my research teams at RIKEN and the University of Cambridge for the excellent research we are exploring together.”
